Heart's Glade Reviews

Reading Kelsea’s book was a joy and experiencing the artwork was inspiring! Through the voice of a young frog she skillfully acknowledges that worry does come AND speaks to the role of Biblical answers IN our worries to calm them. An amazing resource for Christian children and families that is both theologically and clinically sound.

This book is amazing! The illustrations are so beautiful and it is such a great way to teach children to understand their feelings and how we can take our thoughts and feelings of worry and anxiety to God. It is written in such a great way for kids to understand!

We took two days to go through it because the kids really liked drawing froggy and writing down their responses to the Journey Pack Tasks. It really helped them understand what they are feeling, and writing down some of the things they like to do to recharge their minds was great. And the Scriptures included are so powerful! Helping them understand God’s promises and how to turn those promises into prayers is such a wonderful exercise!

We had some good discussions as we read through the book, and the explanations really helped me talk with them in ways they can understand. I love Froggy’s journey!

This is such a great resource for kids that I think parents, Christian counselors and church leaders would enjoy using with their kids and the kids they work with.

As parents of a daughter that has ADHD and severe anxiety, we have found Heart’s Glade: A Journey Through Understanding Your Feelings to not only be easy to read for a child, but also as a tool to be read over and over without getting old.

The tools that Kelsea provided are not only for kids, but can be used by adults as well. Our daughter has mentioned struggling with all of the issues in this book, and following the steps that Froggy went through is something we would like to try with her. As parents, we feel helpless at times because we are used to taking the pain or the fear that she has away. We are looking forward to using the steps provided in the book, along with continued prayer.

Thank you Kelsea for writing this book. We are looking forward for more to come.

My boys and I had a chance to read Hearts Glade together. This book does a wonderful job opening the doors for communication on feelings and how to deal with them!

There are not many books that are geared towards children, that take a Christian approach to dealing with some of the tough emotions children can face. I love that the book talks about the promises of God and gives scriptures that the child can refer back to or memorize!

I think it is good to be open and tag certain feelings, but also give the tools to help the child work through those feelings.

I recently had the good fortune to read Heart’s Glade: A Journey Through Understanding Your Feelings to my two girls, aged 9 and 11.  Both of them have varying degrees of anxiety along with the normal stresses of growing up. From their first glimpse of the friendly protagonist “Froggy,” they were captivated!

Because the book is meant to help young minds explore their feelings, participants are encouraged to grab materials for a “Journey Pack” to write down their responses to thought-provoking questions. I was amazed as my girls enthusiastically rushed off to gather their supplies, excited for the exercises to come.

They were very engaged throughout the different activities, and both walked away ready to use some of their newly-acquired perspective. As a mother, I had particular appreciation for the Scripture references and reminders of God’s promises.

I would highly recommend this book to all parents with young children–parent and child alike will bond over the experience of reading “Heart’s Glade” together.

As we read, A Journey Through Understanding Your Feelings, my daughter and I were taken on a journey with a character named “Froggy. Froggy right away showed kindness and put us at ease. He explained words and let us know what we would need for this journey. Equipped and prepared, we continued reading.

This book was very enlightening to me as a mother getting to find out was going on in my daughter’s mind. To hear her express her thoughts. The book allowed me to ask questions that I did not even realize she needed to answer. It opened up a way to have conversations I didn’t even know I needed to have with her. As we continued to read and express our feelings and thoughts, God’s peace surrounded us.

She loved the book and I know that it helped us and will continue to help us. I highly recommend this book for parents to open up conversations with their child. I highly recommend this book for children needing peace and understanding of their feelings. I highly recommend this book as a tool for anyone that works with children.

Kelsea Jones does an incredible job In Understanding Your Feelings. She calls on her personal experience in dealing with feelings, and gives great guidance.

From a decidedly Christian perspective, Kelsea not only gives a plan to deal with feelings, she also gives a model prayer to pray. I am thankful for the wisdom in this book. It can be used by itself or as a teaching guide. While this book is focused on a younger audience, adults can glean from this as well.

Get a pen or a crayon and a piece of paper and enjoy the journey with froggy! It’s a journey you’ll want to take over and over!

Heart’s Glade: A Journey Through Understanding your Feelings is such a valuable tool and resource for parents, teachers and children.

This book allows children to feel comfortable expressing and coping with their feelings in a simple but effective way with its step by step approach.

It provides many examples and resources to guide children through what they feel and how to process and relieve those not so happy feelings.

One of my favorite aspects of this book is that it reassures children they are not alone with their feelings. We all deal with stress, anxiety, fear, etc from time to time but we can have hope and a promise in God to hold onto.

As a parent I realize my children have big feelings too during these uncertain times. Going through this book with them helps us to communicate and express our emotions together.

It is a must-have for every family with children!

We love Heart’s Glade: A Journey Through Understanding Your Feelings! In our scenario we didn’t have paper and pen available to make it a hands on activity, but it is set up in a way that we were able to talk through it together, and it was just as effective!

It helped my son to calm down with each step that we talked through, and got his mind off of his fears. It also helped him realize that his mind gets tired and needs to be recharged and caught his attention!

I love how the promises of God are laid out, as well as an easy list of common emotions to pick from. I also really liked that there are scriptures fully written out. It is so convenient to be able to read them right from there!

I will definitely use this again when we need it, for my kiddos AND myself!

A Journey Through Understanding Your Feelings is a great resource for every parent, teacher, children’s ministry worker, or anyone who has the privilege of influencing the life of children. Every child experiences Big Emotions that are hard for them to process and express in a healthy manner. This book takes children on a journey to identify the emotion in a way that is easily understood by children, express those feelings, and become equipped with coping tools to help them manage their feelings.

The book places God at the center of the journey, which will teach kids to go to God when life’s problems feel overwhelming. The more the children take the journey in the book, the more solid their relationship with God will become as he, and his word, becomes the foundation they stand on in the trying moments of life.

A Journey Through Understanding Your Feelings features many engaging components such as colorful illustrations, easy to understand content, and hands on tasks that will make the children active participants in their own journey. As an elementary teacher and children’s ministry worker, I intend to keep a copy of A Journey Through Understanding Your Feelings on hand to help children struggling with their emotions so they can experience peace and healing in their life long journey.
